Found this 70's love seat in the neighbor's trash. I love it! The fabric is amazing but I have to revamp it with a new one, polish & paint the legs, can't wait how it'll turn out. The arm rest & the left corner has a supersonic vibe. Diamantina approved it right away.

This past friday I started knitting machine classes, on a machine from Singer that purls & knitts & you can also make different stitches & patterns altering the pressure on the yarn & you knitt waaaaay fast.

El viernes pasado empecé mis clases de tejido en máquina, en una máquina Singer que teje derecho & revés & también hace diferentes puntos & patrones modificando la presión en el estambre a parte de que tejes muuuuy rápido.

Moni introduced me to this machine, she recently opened a knitting/coffee shop in Guadalajara called OMA in which you can also try delicious german food.

I know, it's been a while, so this is a list of what I was up too the last part of 2010:
1. I became an aunt!

2. I baked a lot of pecan butter cookies for the humans & ginger bones for the pups & made christmas punch, grandma's recipe.

3. We stopped a lot to our local new bakery

4. Good bye's & hello's to old & new friends

5. We took the dogs to the beach for christmas, had the best short vacation ever

6. Work is crazy but I had a small eh.mio sale at work & everybody was very happy, so I'm happy

7. Got the new ehmio.com redesign almost done

8. Tide up the house a little bit, framing & hanging art
9. Gettin' in to shape my old to sewing machines.

Yes, this 3 kg I gained during our vacations weren't in vane. San Carlos de Bariloche posses a strong european influence, as for chocolate & confiture there are many specialized cute stores with wonderful local goodness such as wild mushrooms, homemade mustards, alfajores, remarkable teas & infusions, cheese & the most tasteful raspberries I've ever tasted.

Above, the patisserie department of Rapa Nui, we had hot chocolate & a raspberry cupcake. Of course I wanted to take all the pottery on the display home but I just got a ceramic honeycomb & cupcake. What you MUST NOT miss if you go to Rapa Nui: Fra Nui, double chocolate covered raspberries, they'll blow your mind.

Si, estos 3 kg que subí en las vacaciones no fueron en vano. San Carlos de Bariloche poseé una fuerte influencia europea, en cuanto a el chocolate & conservas hay varias tienditas especializadas con maravillosas bondades locales como hongos silvestres, mostazas hechas en casa, alfajores, super tés & infusiones, queso & las frambuesas más deliciosas que he probado.

Arriba, el departamento de patisserie de Rapa Nui, tomamos una taza de chocolate caliente & un cupcake de frambuesa. Claro que quería llevarme toda la cerámica del display pero solo compré un cupcake & un panal de abejas de cerámica. Lo que NO se pueden perder si van a Rapa Nui: Fra Nui, frambuesas cubiertas con doble chocolate, les volará la cabeza.

So embarrased I've visited botanic gardens in many places but my own country. There's even a pond that turtles & koi fishies call home & red & blue dragon flies mate above which I haven't seen much in the last years. I miss seeing fireflies though.

Note to self:

• Ahuehuete (Moctezuma's Cypress) is our national tree means old water tree in nahuatl

• Mexico produces 60% of pine nuts of the world

• Acorns come from oak trees

• The olive tree was first brought to México in the 1500's expanded then to the rest of the north continent

Qué pena que haya visitado jardines botánicos en otros lugares menos en mi país. Hasta hay un estanque el cual las tortugas & peces koi llaman hogar & libélulas rojas & azules se aparean las cuales hace muchos años no veía. Hecho de menos ver luciérnagas.

Organic egg farms we visited are some of the projects funded by some orgs & this one on the outskirts of Mexico City.

It's a great way to help & support the less fortunate rural mazahua communities, they get together once a week for workshops in which they learn from how to take care of their hens to make preserves & some other organic goodies like chipotle chillies, jams, preserved guavas, tamarind candy, etc. sticking with natural & sustainable methods & helping them to reach their independence.

It just amazes me how organizations make an outstanding job supporting these communities when supposedly the government should, I mean, MUST be doing.

It amazes me the knowledge these people posses, ancient & elemental ways that bond us deeply with the earth (without sounding too hippie) & that most of my "urban" fellas lack.

It amazes me how good will & actions transcends other people's lives.

Las granjas de huevo orgánico que visitamos son uno de los proyectos financiados por algunas organizaciones & ésta otra en las faldas de la ciudad de México.

Es una gran manera de ayudar & apoyar a las comunidades rurales mazahua menos afortunadas, ellas se reúnen una vez a la semana para atender los talleres en los que les enseñan desde el cuidado de las gallinas hasta hacer conservas & otras cositas orgánicas como chiles chipotle, mermeladas, guayabas en almibar, dulce de tamarindo, etc. apegándose a métodos naturales & sustentables & ayudándoles a alcanzar su independencia.

Me asombra el enorme trabjajo que las organizaciones hacen apoyando a estas comunidades cuando supuestamente es el trabajo que el gobierno debería, más bien, TENDRÍA que estar haciendo.

Me asombra el conocimiento que la gente posee, maneras elementales & ancestrales que nos unen tan profundamente con la tierra (sin sonar tan hippie) & del que mis colegas "urbanos" carecen.

Me asombra como la buena voluntad & acciones trascienda a la vida de otras personas.

Creo que tengo propósitos durante todo el año, pero allegados me siguen diciendo que los propósitos ayudarîan a mantenerme organizada además de estos propósitos de bliss in a teacup blog tan inspiradores que me llevaron a pensar los míos así que aquí van las primeras 10 cosas que aparecieron en mi mente:

I finished the urban prairie wallet prototype a couple of weeks ago, i needed a wallet so i made myself one, im satisfied with the result but there's some adjustments to be made before it crashes in my etsy shop which opened on may 7th!!! I might take a while to finish the urban prairie wallets & list them on the shop, at least a couple of weeks until we settle in to the new house.

We spent the weekend in Guadalajara, we were rushed all the time but had a really nice time. We stayed at Mony & Pit's gorgeous old house near downtown . I hope to go back real soon, the Guadalajara film festival is in two weeks & everyone i know says it's a lot of fun. These are some of the pics of the house.

Finally i finished "forester" after several failed gocco registration attempts i decided to continue old school taking my watercolors out of a forgotten droor. I wanted to use watercolors long time ago but couldn't make my mind in which project.
These is how it looked with the first brown layer:

Por fin terminé "guardabosques" después de varios intentos fallidos de empalmar la segunda malla del gocco decidí proceder "a la antigua", así que afuera del cajón del olvido acuarelas. Desde hace mucho tenía la intención de usarlas pero no decidía en qué proyecto.
Así se veían con la primer malla con tinta marrón:

This paper is made of out of responsable pruning, so no trees harmed during this project. It smells delicious & the efect of the ink over the texture is quite nice, definitely a most in theses forest thingies series.

El papel está hecho de madera de tala & poda responsable, así que ningun árbol fué lastimado en la producción de esta serie. Huele delicioso & el efecto que hace la impresión sobre la beta de la madera es muy lindo, en definitiva un most para esta serie de cositos del bosque.

So this is how it turned out & even thou i feel satisfied with the prints over Moleskines, i still have mixed feelings about the ones on wood paper, my friend le airbag was right about printing monochromatic.

February's gone, no time to blog, nor create, twitter has gotten on my way & is nice to know mundane facts of friends or people you dig, let's say it shortens distance. Have this sticker book, "Sticker Bomb" by Studio Rarekwai on my mind for quite a while, there's some characters & street art in those sticky things, i collect stickers & stamps since i was little & i would like to make some stickers of some drawings i have. Saw the book at a design store/gallery found in "la bastille", it's called "the lazy dog" & the owner & his dog are quite nice & have a good selection of books, vinils, clothing, toys, magz & some collectibles.

Febrero acabó, ni tiempo para postear, ni crear, el twitter se cruzó en mi camino & es agradable saber sobre la mundaneidad de los amigos, digamos que acorta distancias. He tenido en mi mente este libro "Sticker Bomb" de Studio Rarekwai, contiene stickers de personajes & arte callejero, colecciono estampas & sellos desde muy pequeña & me gustaría en algun momento mandar a hacer stickers de algunos dibujillos que tengo por ahi. El libro lo vi en una tienda de diseño/galería que encontré en el barrio de la bastilla, se llama "the lazy dog" & el dueño & su perro son muy agradables & tiene una buenisima selección de libros,viniles, ropa, juguetes, revistas & algunos coleccionables.

When i visited that store i discovered Genevieve Gauckler, now one of my fave illustrators & researching the net came with this project called "if you could do anything tomorrow what would it be?" in wich a lot of renowned & emerging artists answer the question with a 2 ink print poster. You can buy the catalog or any of the 2 issues They're already planning a 2009 print issue & exhibition so stay tuned.

The seasons have lost track of time, birds hurry their flight to build their nests, days are hotter & nights cooler, people don't use reusable bags when grocery shopping, don't recycle their trash, don't use biodegradable products, don't unplug their appliances while unused, use the car even for the tiniest distance instead of walking or taking the bus, throw the garbage in the park & streets, wash the car & street with a running hose... life as we knew it is getting out of it's natural cycle, even that nobody stop to look closely.
If we just reuse, separate & recycle the garbage, use biodegradable products that wouldn't poison the sea, if we unplug appliances while we don't use them, or if we just walk once in a while, if we put the garbage on it's place or use a bucket instead of a hose, if we just could make a tiny effort we wouldn't be fucked.

Like Cornel West says: "None of us can save the nation or world. But each of us can make a positive difference if we commit ourselves to do so".

If people would donate to the less fortunate, if we gave the same value to every single living creature as we do to another human being, if we could feel some compassion... i would be proud of my specie.
I better stop this post, sounding like a cheap preacher & promise to be less pessimist on the next post.

Las estaciones del año han perdido todo órden, las aves apresuran el vuelo para construir sus nidos, los días son muy calientes & las noches muy frías, la gente no lleva sus bolsas reusables al super, no separa la basura, no usa productos biodegradables, no desconecta los aparatos electrónicos cuando no los usa, usa el auto hasta para el más corto trayecto en lugar de caminar o tomar el bus, tira la basura en los parques & en las calles, lava el auto & las calles con el agua corriendo... la vida como la conocíamos se está saliendo de su ciclo natural, aunque ahorita nadie se detenga a observar detenidamente.
Si tan solo reusaramos las cosas, separáramos la basura, usaramos productos que no envenenen la mar, si desconectaramos los aparatos electrónicos cuando no los usamos, o si caminaramos de vez en cuando a algún destino, si la gente tirara la basura en su lugar o si cuidara el agua, si tan solo hicieramos un pequeño esfuerzo no nos estaría cargando la chingada.

Como lo dice Cornel West: "Ninguno de nosotros puede salvar la nación o el mundo. Pero cada uno de nosotros puede ser una positiva diferencia sólo si nos comprometemos a hacerla".

Si la gente donara a los desamparados, si le diera el mismo valor a cualquier ser vivo como lo dá al ser humano, si se apiadara un poco de los desafortunados... me enorgullecería tanto pertenecer a la misma especie.
Mejor pongo un alto a este post que ya sueno a preacher embustero & prometo ser menos pesimista en el próximo post.

Yesterday Billie & i had our 7th anniversarie. He gave me a tennis lesson & watched a movie , code 46. There's a song in which one of the main characters is dancing at b/c it's her b-day, absolutely beautiful scenes, to much that it gives me goose bumps. A piece of the lyrics:

I have started the "foresty creatures" gocco series that have been stored for 5 years until gocco appeared in my life. The original drawing had the ears, torso, arms & legs stitched wich i intended to use real thread but after several tries it took merit off the print itself. Anyway stitches are on most of the "foresty creatures".

He comenzado la serie en gocco de "cositos silvestres" que he tenido almacenada por mas de 5 años, no me decidía el medio para imprimir, hasta que descubrí el gocco. El dibujo original tenía costuras en las orejas & demás extremidades las cuales pretendía coser con hilo pero al intentarlo se demeritaba la impresión así que decidí dejarlo sin costuritas, más adelante apareceran en las demás series.

The bunny was printed with 2 screens, one for the outline & the other for the rest of the colors. I used 6 inks: brown on the outline, blue on the head, gold on the eye, red on the patch, white on the tighty whities & pink on the band aid. The paper is linen hand made in grey sky & the texture is delicious. Although i'm very pleased with the results this paper is not to good to gocco on because of the rough texture, it absobs way too much ink & you have to reink every 5 prints aproximately.

Available soon, ready to frame, collect, as a gift or just treasure it. Every gocco print is numbered & different due to gocco's nature.

El conejillo fué impreso con 2 mallas, una para el outline & la otra para los demás colores. En total utilicé 6 tintas: café pare el outline, azul en la cabeza, dorado en el ojo, rojo en el parche, blanco en la truza & rosa en el curita. El papel es de lino hecho a mano color gris celeste & la textura una delicia. No es el óptimo para usar en gocco pues debido a lo rugoso de la textura absorbe demasiada tinta & se tiene que reentintar cada 5 impresiones aproximadamente, pero el resultado es totalmente satisfactorio.
Disponibles próximamente, listos para enmarcar, coleccionar, regalar o atesorar. Cada impresión está numerada & es diferente una de otra debido a la naturaleza de impesión del gocco.
